I sometimes sit at a dining table making deadpan jokes. I often feel like the existence of my vagina means it flies over mens' heads. A simple crack at the classic "Why can't we print more money?" turns into a lecture about the economy, when all I wanted was a giggle.

I always thought Sabrina took Dolly’s ‘it takes a lot of money to look this cheap’ line and made it her manifesto. But instead of rhinestones, she weaponised irony. Every glossed lip, every sugar sweet hook is bait. She’s turned femininity into a smokescreen — and half the internet walked straight into it. The outrage feels almost Kafkaesque, if Kafka had written about lipstick and bruised egos.
“but she’s just using sex to promote her music” have you ever wondered why? she has so many beautifully written songs and equally as good but they never go viral. only the songs that are sexual in nature go viral. but they never wonder why that is.
Which is exactly why I think she leans into things like the Lolita photoshoot. Because who’s the real problem… the girl reading a book in the garden, or the one who can’t stop sexualising her?
The scandal is never the pose. It’s the projection. Nabokov understood that — he let people reveal themselves through their response to his work. Sabrina’s just concealed the conceit in glitter.

Thank you!! Of all the thought pieces, this is the take. Her album cover was so grotesque it was of course satire just like American psycho etc all of the examples you shared. This puts into words what I felt internally but couldn’t formulate bc I didn’t wanna spend the time to parse it out.
